Wolves Remain In Wild West
July 7, 2009 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Chicago Wolves News Release
The Chicago Wolves will stay in the American Hockey League's West Division after the 29-team league re-aligned its two-conference, four-division format for the 2009-10 season.
The Wolves will compete against one new rival in the seven-team West Division - the Texas Stars - and five traditional foes: the Houston Aeros, Milwaukee Admirals, Peoria Rivermen, Rockford IceHogs and San Antonio Rampage. Chicago will meet the Admirals, IceHogs, and Rivermen 10 times each, and the Aeros, Rampage and Stars eight times each during the franchise's 16th regular season.
Chicago will also play 26 games against North Division teams, including the new Abbotsford Heat, and familiar foes the Grand Rapids Griffins, Hamilton Bulldogs, Manitoba Moose, Toronto Marlies and Lake Erie Monsters.
The Wolves have announced six prime dates for the 2009-10 season, which kicks off with the franchise's 16th home opener at the Allstate Arena on Sat., Oct. 3. The complete 2009-10 AHL regular-season schedule and the format for the 2010 Calder Cup Playoffs, will be released later this summer.
