Admirals Will Continue to Play in West Division

Milwaukee, WI-American Hockey League President and CEO David Andrews announced that the league's Board of Governors has approved the following conference/division alignment and the schedule format for the AHL's 2009-10 season.

For the ninth consecutive season, the Milwaukee Admirals will play in the AHL's West Division in the Western Conference. Joining the Ads in the West Division include the Chicago Wolves, Houston Aeros, Peoria Rivermen, Rockford IceHogs, San Antonio Rampage, and new league member Texas Stars.

Milwaukee will play 54 of their 80 games against opponents from their own division, including ten match-ups each with the Wolves, Rivermen, and IceHogs with five games at home and five on the road. The Admirals will take on the three teams from the Lone Star State (Houston, San Antonio, and Texas) a total of eight times each.

The Ads remaining 26 games will involve teams from the North Division, with six of those contests coming against the Grand Rapids Griffins, and four each against the Hamilton Bulldogs, Lake Erie Monsters, Manitoba Moose, Toronto Marlies, and other new AHL squad Abbotsford Heat. The lone team in the North that the Admirals will not play is the Rochester Americans.

The 2009-10 AHL season will begin on October 2nd with the full schedule to be announced later this summer.
