
Wolves Overcome Greyhounds

The Sudbury Wolves hosted their Northern rivals the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in Sunday afternoon action. Both teams were playing their third game in as many days.
Both the Hounds and the Wolves received a number of chances at both ends of the ice during the opening period of play, however TROY TIMPANO and JOSEPH RAAYMAKERS stood tall between the pipes to keep the game scoreless after the first period. PAVEL JENYS and KYLE CAPOBIANCO had outstanding periods for the Wolves and were dominating forces on the ice. Shots on goal after the first were 13 to 7 in favour of the Hounds.
The second period saw much more action as both teams got on the board. The SOO went on a four-minute power play in which TROY TIMPANO made some amazing saves to keep the Wolves in the game. The Greyhounds were the first to get on the board as MICHAEL BUNTING put one past TIMPANO. Wolves' forward NATHAN PANCEL sniped one top corner on RAAYMAKERS to equalize the game. The Wolves added another before the second frame came to a close to take a 2-1 lead. CAPOBIANCO connected with JENYS who made no mistake as he put it past RAAYMAKERS. Shots on goal after the second were 27 to 24 in favour of the Hounds.
The third period was once again all about the goaltenders as they both stood tall in net. Wolves' goaltender TROY TIMPANO came up with a number of huge saves to help give his team the 2-1 victory over the Greyhounds. Final shots on goal were 40-30 in favour of the Hounds. Troy was named 1st star of the game for his efforts. NATHAN PANCEL was named 2nd star for his performance while KYLE CAPOBIANCO was named 3rd star.
The Sudbury Wolves will be back on home ice on December 5th at 7:30PM when the take on the Oshawa Generals. This game will kick off a series of 5 straight home games for the Wolfpack.
