Kitchener Rangers News Release

Two point afternoons from Darby Llewellyn and Brandon Robinson led the Kitchener Rangers to a 4-3 road victory over the Ottawa 67's on Sunday. Doug Blaisdell and Justin Bailey also scored in the win, the Rangers second of the season over the 67's.

The teams skated through a scoreless first period, with Kitchener holding a 7-6 advantage on the shot clock.

Sophomore defenceman Doug Blaisdell put the Rangers on the board first, scoring his second of the season at the 4:43 mark of the middle frame. The Dearborn Heights, MI native picked up a pass from fellow blueliner Max Iafrate and launched a hard, high shot over the blocker side shoulder of Ottawa netminder Liam Herbst. The second assist on the play was credited to third year winger Darby Llewellyn.

Jeremiah Addison scored twice in the last four minutes of the period, lifting the 67's to a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes. His first came on the heels of an Ottawa penalty kill, when Nathan Todd laced a backhand pass to the veteran winger in the slot. Addison fired a shot low, glove side past Rangers starter Matthew Greenfield, picking up his eighth tally of the year.

With less than a minute to play, Ottawa added their second goal. Brendan Bell carried the puck behind the Kitchener net and found Addison at the top of the crease. The former Saginaw Spirit forward slid a shot past the left skate of Greenfield to earn his second of the game. Dante Salituro also assisted on the play.

The 67's led shots on goal 15-10 in the second period.

Brandon Robinson pulled the Rangers even just 46 seconds into the final frame. Curtis Meighan's shot on goal was denied by Herbst, but Robinson drove hard to the net, jumped on the rebound and pushed it over the line for his ninth of the year. The second helper was credited to second year blueliner Frank Hora.

Kitchener scored twice just past the midway point of the third period to take a 4-2 lead. Team scoring leader put the Rangers back in front at 11:26, snatching the puck off Ryan MacInnis' offensive zone faceoff and racing it to the 67's crease. The Buffalo Sabres prospect carried the puck across the front of the crease and shovelled it behind the left skate of Herbst for his 15th of the season.

Llewellyn put the Rangers up 4-2 just 22 seconds later, potting his sixth of the year. The veteran forward battled over the blueline, before halting and firing a sharp angle shot into the 67's net. Robinson also picked up his second point of the afternoon with an assist on the play. The second helper was credited to captain Liam Maaskant.

Ottawa pulled within one with just over five minutes to play, when Erik Bradford collected a pass from Travis Konecny and reached around Greenfield to bury his eighth of the season. The tally was also assisted by import rearguard Alex Lintuniemi.

The Rangers held on for the 4-3 victory, outshooting the 67's 14-8 in the third period and finishing with a 31-29 overall advantage. With the win, Kitchener sweeps the two-game season series with Ottawa.
