February 19, 2016 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Sudbury Wolves News Release
The Sudbury Wolves were in North Bay Thursday evening to battle their Northern rivals. The Wolves were looking to rebound after a tough loss against the Steelheads. The last time these two teams faced the Wolves came back late in the game to tie the game but ultimately lost 4-2. The Battalion ensured the Wolves couldn't make a comeback this time around as they defeated the Wolves 9-1.
The Wolves began the game with energy but unfortunately ran into penalty trouble in the first period. The Battalion subsequently scored 3 times including a powerplay goal to take a 3-0 lead into the dressing room.
Despite a number of good scoring chances in the second period the Wolves couldn't capitalize as JAKE SMITH turned aside some good opportunities. The Battalion added 5 goals in the period to extend their lead to 8-0.
The third period proved to be much of the same for the Wolves as they couldn't capitalize on their third powerplay chance due to the stellar goaltending by JAKE SMITH. 8:39 into the period the Wolves finally broke the shutout when ZACH WILKIE blasted a shot from the point with assists from DAVID LEVIN and PATRICK MURPHY. Levin's assist pushed his point streak to 6 games as he's notched 7 points in 6 games in the month of February.
The Wolves ultimately drop the contest 9-1. The Battalion saw contributions from a number of players including Captain MIKE AMADIO who had two goals and an assist.
The Wolves will look to rebound tonight as they host the Peterborough Petes for the final time this season at the Sudbury Arena at 7pm.
