Sarnia, Ont. - Flint's Vili Saarijärvi scored the game-winning tally and the Firebirds recorded three unanswered goals in the third period to earn a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over the Sarnia Sting on Friday night.

Sarnia's Troy Lajeunesse started the scoring off for the Sting 53 seconds into the game. Jeff King found Lajeunesse in the slot who directed the puck into the net earning Sarnia the early lead.

Then, Flint would tie the game at 16:47 of the first period when Reynolds buried on a rebound goal to record his first lamplighter in a Firebirds uniform. While in the Flint zone, Mathieu Henderson bombed the puck up to Will Bitten at the Sarnia blue line. Bitten put a skilled shot on net to force a rebound for a crashing Reynolds who found twine to tie the contest heading into the locker room after the first period of play.

With the game tied 1-1 as the halfway point was approaching, Travis Konecny converted from the left circle to take the lead at 9:18. Then, Sam Studnicka won a face off draw in the Flint zone and dished the puck to Matt Mistele at the left circle who scored upstairs past Moran, increasing Sarnia's lead to two goals.

The Firebirds started the final period down by two goals but Ryan Moore would begin Flint's comeback at 7:27 by scoring short side from the right wing wall past Charlie Graham.

26 seconds later, Mathieu Henderson sent Bitten on a breakaway who sniped the puck far side over Graham's left shoulder for the tying goal. Then, while on the power play, Vili Saarijärvi scored the game-winning goal from the point, finding the back of the net between Graham's legs at 11:19.

Flint's Brent Moran picked up the victory between the pipes recording 38 saves on 41 Sarnia shots. The Firebirds were 1-for-3 on the power play and were 1-for-1 on the penalty kill. Moran picked up third star honors while Bitten was awarded the first star.
