LAST TIME OUT: The Firebirds scored three goals in the first period, four in the second and three more in the third as the hammered the Owen Sound Attack, 10-0, in Game 3 on Monday night at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre. Mason Vaccari recorded a 32-save shutout and seven Firebirds had multi-point games as the Birds took a 3-0 lead in the series.
UNFATHOMABLE DOMINANCE: Flint has outscored Owen Sound a combined 29-2 through three games in the series, having won 8-1 in Game 1, 11-1 in Game 2 and 10-0 in Game 3. The Firebirds have scored more goals in each game of the series than they had in any postseason game in franchise history prior to 2026.
EASY TO OVERLOOK: Mason Vaccari registered his first playoff shutout in Game 3 on Monday night by making 32 saves in the 10-0 win. Vaccari has 81 saves on 83 shots faced in the series and owns a 0.67 goals against average and a .976 save percentage, both of which lead the OHL Playoffs.
TOP OF THE CHARTS: Jacob Battaglia leads the OHL Playoffs with 10 points and four of the top six scorers in the league are Firebirds. Nathan Aspinall is tied with Brantford's Caleb Malhotra for second with nine points and Darian Anderson and Chris Thibodeau are tied for fourth with seven apiece. Battaglia also leads the league with seven assists and Aspinall and Dryden Allen are tied for the league lead in plus/minus at +9.
PLAYOFF HISTORY: This is the second time the Firebirds and Attack have met in the postseason in franchise history. Flint beat Owen Sound in seven games in a first round match-up in 2022. Owen Sound has not won a playoff game since May 3, 2022, a 4-0 shutout over the Firebirds in Game 6 of that series.
ODDS AND ENDS: Nathan Aspinall turned 20-years-old on Monday. He celebrated his birthday with two goals, an assist and a +6 plus/minus...the Firebirds are seeking their first playoff series sweep in franchise history...Flint is now 7-3 all-time against Owen Sound in the postseason...the Attack have now lost 16 consecutive playoff games. Should the Firebirds win on Wednesday it would be four-straight first round sweeps for Owen Sound.
UP NEXT: Game 5, if necessary, is scheduled for Saturday night at 7 p.m. at the Dort Financial Center in Flint.
