SAGINAW, MI. - On Friday night, the Saginaw Spirit (21-29-3-3, 8th Western Conference) welcome the Erie Otters (43-10-1-0, 1st Western Conference) to The Dow Event Center. The Spirit and the Otters have split the first two games of the four game season series. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
The Spirit are coming off of a mid-week win over the Sarnia Sting at The Dow Event Center by a score of 5-2. Kris Bennett and Krill Maksimov led the way with multi-point performances, as Evan Cormier made 31 saves in the Spirit victory. Wednesday night's victory snapped an eight-game winless streak and earned Moe Mantha his first win as interim head coach in the 2015-16 campaign.
Erie has already clinched a playoff spot with 87 points and currently sits in first place in the Western Conference. The Otters are led by Arizona Coyotes prospect Dylan Strome and draft eligible Alex DeBrincat. Thursday night, the Erie Otters defeated the Flint Firebirds by a score of 5-2. Alex DeBrincat registered two goals an assist, while Dylan Strome picked up four assists in the Otters' win.
Head-to-Head:
Tonight's meeting marks the third of four games this season and is the last time the Spirit will host the Otters at The Dow Event Center. The Spirit drew first blood in the season series back on October 24th, 2015 at the Erie Insurance Arena, as the Spirit took down the Otters 6-3. The last time these two teams met at The Dow, Erie took home a 3-2 win over the Spirit.
