November 4, 2009 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Chicago Wolves News Release
MILWAUKEE---Right wing Tim Stapleton broke a 3-3 deadlock midway through the third period to lift the Chicago Wolves over the Milwaukee Admirals, 4-3, for their first road win of the season at the Bradley Center Wednesday night.
Stapleton pocketed the game-winner, 9:44 into the third period, to put the Wolves up 4-3. The Chicago native skated the puck up the left-side boards and dropped it back to defenseman Chris Chelios. Chelios then set the puck up in front of the crease for the streaking Stapleton, who wristed it into the open net.
Chicago (5-6-0-1) got on board 10:26 into the first period when defenseman Scott Lehman skated the puck into the zone and made a pass in front of the goal to right wing Anthony Stewart, who tipped it in past the near post.
Just under two minutes later, the Wolves made their lead two on a delayed penalty call. Chelios took a hard shot from the point that rebounded far out in front of the net. Stapleton picked up the rebound and shot it past Milwaukee netminder Mark Dekanich, five-hole.
Milwaukee (5-5-0-1) cut the lead to one with 5:30 remaining in the first period. Center Nick Spaling passed the puck into the crease from behind the net and right wing Ryan Maki managed to slip it past an out-of-position Wolves goaltender Drew MacIntyre.
MacIntyre (3-4-0) recorded 14 saves in his third straight win.
Milwaukee tied it up just 64 seconds later, when center Wacey Rabbit, skating towards the net, received a puck from forward Mark Van Guilder and roofed it over MacIntyre's shoulder to make it 2-2 heading into the first intermission.
Left wing Mark Santorelli gave Milwaukee their first lead of the game, 3-2, on a power-play tally at 3:48 of the second period. Santorelli picked up a pass in between the circles and shot the puck passed a screened MacIntyre, stick-side.
The Wolves tied it back up at 7:43 of the second when center Johnny Pohl skated the puck into the zone and passed it off to Stewart, who took a shot that defenseman Arturs Kulda picked up in front of the crease and pushed past Dekanich.
Dekanich (4-4-1) stopped 23 of 27 shots for Milwaukee.
The Wolves continue their six-game road trip against the Griffins at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Mich., on Fri., Nov. 6 at 6 p.m.
