Moose Sign Darryl Bootland To PTO

The Manitoba Moose today announced they have signed forward Darryl Bootland to a professional tryout contract.

Bootland, 28, played in 14 games last season with the Moose. In that time, the Schomberg, ON native recorded nine points (5g & 4a) along with 42 penalty minutes. He finished the season with Salzburg EC in Austria where he appeared in 14 games for 12 points (4g & 8a) and 89 penalty minutes. So far this season, the right-winger has played in seven games with Kalamazoo of the ECHL, where he has accumulated eight points (3g & 5a) and 29 penalty minutes.

In his nine-year pro career, Bootland has played in 32 NHL games with Detroit and the New York Islanders where he's scored three points (1g & 2a) and 85 penalty minutes. In 370 career AHL games with the Grand Rapids, Portland, Bridgeport and Manitoba, Bootland has 166 points (81g & 85a) and 1431 penalty minutes.

He was originally drafted by the Avalanche in the eighth round, 252nd overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
