
'Wolves Fall to Mets 7-1

The SeaWolves were the victims of a strong pitching performance from Mets starter Brandon Moore on Thursday night at NYSEG Stadium, falling to Binghamton 7-1 in the series finale.
The Mets struck first in the bottom of the first inning against Erie starter Mark Sorensen. Jordanny Valdespin led off with a double to right and he moved to third on a Mike Fisher bunt single. Josh Satin hit a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Valdespin for a 1-0 lead. Eric Campbell later singled home Fisher and Allen Dykstra doubled home Campbell for a 3-0 Binghamton advantage.
Binghamton added a run in the sixth to go ahead 4-0. Josh Satin led off with a double and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt from Brahiam Maldonado. A Campbell sacrifice fly scored Satin for the games fourth run.
In the seventh, the Mets put the game out of reach. With two outs, Lorenzo Scott and Valdespin hit back-to-back singles, putting two on for Fisher. Fisher blasted a three-run home run, his second, over the wall in right for a 7-0 Mets lead.
Moore took the shutout bid into the ninth inning. Jamie Johnson led off and reached second on a two-base error on Fisher. Ben Guez was hit by a pitch ending the night for Moore with two on base. In came reliever Ricky Brooks and he served up an RBI double to Rawley Bishop, scoring Johnson for Erie's lone run. Brooks retired Audy Ciriaco and Bryan Holaday, ending the game.
Sorensen (1-2) dropped his second straight decision. He allowed seven runs on 11 hits with a walk an no strikeouts in seven innings of work.
Moore (3-0) worked 8.1 innings, allowing an unearned run on five hits with a walk and five strikeouts, winning his third straight game.
The SeaWolves finished the road trip 2-4 and will return home on Friday night to begin a six-game homestand and three-game series against the Bowie Baysox. Lefty Casey Crosby (1-1, 3.86 ERA) takes the mound for the SeaWolves against RHP Zach Clark (3-1, 2.28 ERA) for the Baysox.
Post-game fireworks will follow games on Friday and Saturday night presented by the Bel-Aire Clarion.
