Reading Fightin Phils News Release

(Reading, PA) -- B.J. LaMura and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats earned a rain-shortened three-game sweep of the Reading Phillies on Thursday with a 10-5 win at FirstEnergy Stadium on Education Day.

LaMura (2-1, 2.88) allowed four runs on four hits over his five innings of work to notch his second victory of the season. New Hampshire (15-9) pulled even in the standings with the win and are now tied with the Reading Phillies atop the Eastern League's Eastern Division.

Reading (16-10) committed three errors on the afternoon, including two from 2B Fidel Hernandez. With one out in the first inning, former Phillies farmhand Anthony Gose reached on an error by Hernandez, and the speedster quickly stole second base to give the 'Cats a runner in scoring position with just one out against starter J.C. Ramirez. And, after a walk to Darin Mastroianni, Ramirez (4-1, 1.86) allowed a three-run home run to the 'Cats' right fielder Moises Sierra.

Reading bounced back with two runs in the bottom of the first inning, pulling to within one run - it was the closest they would get on the day. In all, Ramirez allowed six runs - three earned, on just two hits over 2.2 innings and was saddled with his first loss of the season. The loss stopped his season-high four-game win streak.

Reliever Mike Cisco entered the game in the third inning for Reading and was once again lights out. The South Carolina native tossed 3.1 scoreless frames - allowing just two hits and fanning two batters.

Offensively for the R-Phils, Matt Rizzotti hit his second home run in as many games -- a solo blast over the right field fence in the third inning. Rizzotti went 1-3 with the homer and two RBIs and now has four big flies on the season, along with 15 RBIs. He's batting .326 this season.

The R-Phils, who swept the Fisher Cats in a three-game series at New Hampshire earlier this season, are now 3-3 against the club this year. Reading will now hit the road and travel to Harrisburg to face the Senators - a team they have not seen yet this year.

RHP Austin Hyatt (3-1, 3.00) takes the hill for Reading in the opening game of their three-game set from the State Capitol. Hyatt, a native of Atlanta, GA, won his last outing of the season, which came back on May 1 against Portland. The 24-year-old allowed two runs on five hits over six innings to earn the win.

Taking the ball for the Senators on Friday evening will be RHP Erik Davis (1-0, 3.05). Davis, a native of Stanford, CA, allowed six runs - five earned, over five innings in his last start of the year. He won his only game of the season on April 26 against Altoona. He tossed six shutout innings against the Curve in that game.

Coverage begins with the R-Phils pre-game show at 6:00 p.m. on ESPN Radio 1240 AM WIOV. R-Phils play-by-play broadcaster Brian Seltzer will have the call for all of the action. First-pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.
