'Wolves Fall In Season Finale...Achieve Third-Highest Attendance in Team History

The SeaWolves fell in the final game of the 2008 season on Monday afternoon at Jerry Uht Park, 4-1 to the Akron Aeros. The SeaWolves finished the season with a 68-74 record.

The Aeros struck first against Erie starter Danny Christensen in the top of the second. Ryan Goleski stepped in and clubbed his 12th home run of the season. The solo-shot put the Aeros ahead 1-0.

Akron would take a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning when Brandon Pinckney scored with one out on a single by Stephen Head.

Erie's lone run came in the bottom of the third inning when Brandon Douglas homered over the wall in left to make it a 2-1 game. The home run was the first for Douglas in his fifth game with the SeaWolves.

Akron added two insurance runs in the top of the sixth. Carlos Santana scored on a base knock by Brandon Chaves and Ryan Goleski scored on an error to make it 4-1.

Christensen (7-10) took the loss for the SeaWolves going six innings, allowing four runs, three earned, on eight hits with three walks and four strikeouts.

The SeaWolves have reached their highest total season attendance since 2004. The 'Wolves total attendance figure for the season, 234,995 bests the 2005 total of 233,415. It is the third-highest attendance in the 14-year history of the SeaWolves. Only the 2001 and 2004 seasons drew more fans.
