Senators End Season with 13-7 Triumph Over Bowie

Harrisburg, PA - The Harrisburg Senators outslugged the Bowie Baysox, 13-7, Monday at Commerce Bank Park in the 2008 season finale. Every hitter in the starting lineup reached base as the Senators finished at 73-69, their first winning season since 2002.

The Baysox scored a pair of runs in the top of the 1st on a two-run homer by Nolan Reimold. He hit 10 of his 25 regular-season home runs against the Senators.

Harrisburg came right back with a run in the bottom of the 1st when Ian Desmond clubbed a leadoff home run to cut it to 2-1. They kept it going in the bottom of the 2nd, scoring three runs: Garrett Guzman ripped an RBI single, Desmond hit an RBI groundout and Mike Daniel followed with a two-out run-scoring single to make it 4-2.

The Senators led for the remainder of the game, plating three runs in each of the 3rd and 4th innings. Bill Rhinehart drilled a solo homer in the 3rd and Marvin Lowrance hammered a three-run shot in the 4th to put the Senators ahead, 10-5.

The Baysox scored two more runs in the top of the 5th to cut it to 10-7, but Harrisburg plated a run on another solo homer by Desmond in the 5th to make it 11-7.

Ofilio Castro blasted a two-run double in the bottom of the 7th over the center fielder's head to make it 13-7.

In the Bowie 9th, Wieters tripled to right-center with two out, but Daniel made a diving catch in center field to finish the game and the season in style.

Harrisburg RHP Zack Segovia snagged the win in relief to jump to 4-1 with the Senators. Bowie RHP Zach Clark took the loss to fall to 4-2.

The Senators finished the regular season with a 73-69 record. The Southern Division-champion Baysox go into the playoffs at 84-58.

The Senators and Baysox finish the season Monday at 1:05 PM at Commerce Bank Park. Harrisburg LHP Justin Jones (2-5, 5.26 ERA) faces Bowie RHP Zach Clark (4-1, 2.67 ERA).
