Wolves Fall 111-119 to the Vipers

ORLANDO, FL - The Iowa Wolves (2-11) the NBA G League affiliate of the Minnesota Timberwolves, fell to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (7-6) by a score of 111-119 today at the HP Field House.

The first quarter both teams tied for 32 points each. The Vipers took the slight edge into the locker room at halftime, up 54-52. Kevin Porter, Jr. led the way for RGV at the half with 17 points. Zylan Cheatham led the Wolves at halftime with 10 points, while Canyon Barry added nine points, shooting 3-of-3 from behind the arc.

The tight match continued in the third quarter, with the Vipers holding an 86-80 lead headed into the fourth. Cheatham kept the Wolves in the fight thanks to a 14-point effort in the third frame. The Wolves didn't have an answer for Hernandez, Queen or Brooks in the fourth, who scored a combined 24 of the Vipers 33 fourth quarter points.

Zylan Cheatham led the Wolves with a season-high 26 points on 11-of-15 shooting and nine rebounds. Four of five starters contributed double-digit scoring efforts, along with Wigginton and Barry off-the-bench. Allonzo Trier tallied 10-points, five rebounds and five assists in his return after sitting out the last five games due to back spasms.

Armoni Brooks hit 7-of-13 behind the arc to lead the Vipers with 23 points off-the-bench. Kevin Porter, Jr. led all Vipers with 8 rebounds and added 20 points in the win for Rio Grande Valley.

The Wolves will take on Raptors 905 this Thursday, March 4 at 3:30 p.m. CT at the HP Field House.
