'Wolves Drop Game One of Saturdays DH

The SeaWolves dropped game one of Saturday's doubleheader to the Curve 5-1 at People's Natural Gas Field.

The Curve got on the board against Erie starter Brian Flynn in the first inning. With one out, Brock Holt and Adalberto Santos each singled putting runners on the corners. Matt Curry lifted a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Holt for a 1-0 lead. Consecutive hits by Quincy Latimore and Ramon Cabrera scored a pair to make it 3-0.

Altoona went ahead 5-0 in the third. Santos walked to lead off the inning and he scored on a Latimore two-run home run.

Erie's lone run came in the fifth off of Curve starter Phil Irwin. Avisail Garcia led off with a triple. Rawley Bishop followed, grounded to short and on a Holt error, Garcia scored to make it 5-1. Erie would get no closer.

The 'Wolves had runners on the corners with no outs in the fifth and two on in the seven and failed to cut further into the Curve lead.

Flynn (0-1) allowed five runs on eight hits with two walks and three strikeouts in five innings of work.

Irwin (2-7) tossed a complete game allowing a run on four hits with no walks and four strikeouts.
