Harrisburg Senators News Release

Saturday night in front of 6,979 at Metro Bank Park the Harrisburg Senators snapped a seven-game losing streak by shutting out the New Britain Rock Cats 5-0. Harrisburg's Trevor Holder tossed seven strong innings to earn his first career Double-A victory. With the win, the Senators evened their record at 50-50.

Holder received help from his defense in each of the first two inning. After allowing a lead-off single to Aaron Hicks in the first, Holder responded by inducing a fly out and then a line out to Sean Nicol at third that turned into an inning ending double play. In the second, Holder again had a runner on base with one out when Nicol turned in yet another fantastic defensive play. Debinson Romero hit a line drive down the third base line, but Nicol was there to make a diving catch and follow with a throw to first from one knee for a double play.

Harrisburg's offense capitalized on the play in the bottom of the second. Zach Walters laced a one out triple to left center and later scored when Destin Hood hit into a fielder's choice. Hood went to second on an error on the play. The Sens followed that with singles from Justin Bloxom, Kris Watts, and Nicol, with the hit from Nicol plating Hood for Harrisburg giving the Sens a 2-0 lead.

In the fourth inning, Harrisburg added to their lead by scoring three more times. Bloxom singled and Watts walked to bring up Brian Goodwin with two outs. Goodwin lined a double to right to score both, and pick up his first career Double-A hit. Two batters later Chris Rahl singled to score Goodwin.

Leading 5-0, Holder continued through seven innings without allowing a Rock Cat past first base. Erik Davis and Pat McCoy pitched the final two innings for the Sens.

The Senators complete their four game series with the Rock Cats Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. with RH Ryan Tatusko facing LH Steve Hirschfeld. Coverage of the game begins at 1:40 p.m. with the Sens Pre-Game Show on 1460 the Ticket. The game can also be heard through the Sens website and through the iHeart Radio mobile application.
