Wolves Comeback Big

The Sudbury Wolves hosted the Belleville Bulls at the Sudbury Arena for some Sudbury Saturday night action. Prior to the game, the Sudbury Wolves held a Remembrance Day ceremony to honour Veterans and Military Appreciation night. The Wolves also wore commemorative 70th Anniversay Juno Beach jerseys that were auctioned off throughout the games with proceeds being given to the Juno Beach Centre, Canada's second largest war museum which is located in Normandy, France.

After a slow start to the game, both the Wolves and the Bulls turned up the heat towards the end of the opening period. Bulls' forward, NIKI PETTI put the first goal of the game past Wolves' goalie TROY TIMPANO. After 20 minutes of play, shots on goal were 18-11 in favour of the Wolves.

The second period saw a flurry of action at both ends of the ice. The Bulls took a 2-0 lead early in the second period on a goal by STEPHEN HARPER. In his first game with the Sudbury Wolves, newcomer BROOK HIDDINK opened the scoring for the wolfpack connecting with NATHAN PANCEL to get the Wolves back in the game. This marked HIDDINK first goal of the season, making the score 2-1. The Bulls added two more quick goals just over a minute apart to take a 4-1 lead. The Wolves wouldn't roll over as rookie BRADY PATAKI pocketed his first OHL goal. The Bulls and Wolves exchanged one more goal each before the second period came to a close. After 40 minutes of the play, the Wolves trailed 5-3.

The Wolves flew onto the ice for the 3rd period dominating the play. PANCEL had a stand out game and connected twice to put the Wolves within one with 3 minutes remaining. With the Sudbury Saturday night crowd roaring on, the Wolves turned on the jets and applied tons of pressure The Wolves pulled goaltender TROY TIMPANO with over a minute and a half to play to give the Wolves the extra man on the ice. With 26 seconds remaining in the 3rd period, MATT SCHMALZ sent the game into overtime.

With the Wolves continuing their dominating play, one minute into overtime NATHAN PANCEL became the hero of the game and put the game winner in the net. The Wolves took this exciting game by a final score of 7-6. Final shots on goal were 47-38 in favour of the Sudbury Wolves.

The Wolves will now play their next four games on the road and will be looking to carry over some momentum from Saturday's incredible comeback. The Wolves will return home on November 21st at 7:30PM when they take on the North Bay Battalion.
