Wolves Announce January Player of the Month Award Winners

The Sudbury Wolves are pleased to announce their players of the month award winners for the month of January.

TRAVELODGE SUDBURY COMMUNITY PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Sudbury Wolves Captain DANNY DESROCHERS has been named the TRAVELODGE SUDBURY COMMUNITY PLAYER OF THE MONTH for his outstanding contribution to the City of Greater Sudbury for the month of January. The veteran forward participated in numerous community events over the course of the month, including school visits to St. Joseph, St. David, Queen Elizabeth and Helene Gravel. Most recently, he helped unveil the Sudbury Wolves Superhero jerseys at a media event on Tuesday. The jerseys will be worn on February 12th and auctioned off in support of Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer. The North Bay native is now is his 5th season with the Wolves and has accumulated 36 goals and 33 assists in 244 games to date. The Sudbury Wolves are very proud to have Danny leading the organization on and off the ice!

MOLSON CANADIAN 3-STAR AWARD

Sudbury Wolves goaltender, TROY TIMPANO has been awarded the MOLSON CANADIAN 3-STAR AWARD for the month of January for his strong play in net. The third year was rewarded for his strong play on three occasions during the month of January. The Pickering native was named the second star in a 3-2 shoot-out loss in Oshawa on January 1st. He was also named the 3rd star for his performance on January 15th in the Wolves 4-2 win over the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. His best performance of the month came on January 24th as he helped the Wolves defeat the Guelph Storm with a 4-3 shoot-out victory en route to being named the games 1st star. Troy was also recently ranked 14th among goaltenders in the 2015 NHL Central Scouting rankings for the upcoming NHL Entry Draft. The Sudbury Wolves would like to congratulate Troy on his outstanding play in January.

REG WILKINSON MEN'S WEAR SCHOLASTIC PLAYER OF THE MONTH

The REG WILKINSON MEN'S WEAR SCHOLASTIC PLAYER OF THE MONTH for January is 2nd year forward BRADY PATAKI. Brady is currently attending LaSalle Secondary School where he is enrolled in two university level courses, including math and chemistry. The Wallaceburg, ON native has maintained an 88% average, while balancing school and hockey. Pataki was originally selected by the Wolves' in the 4th round of the 2014 OHL Priority Selection and is three points shy of surpassing his point totals from last season. The Wolves wish to congratulate Brady on his hard work in the classroom and on the ice!

QUIZNOS HARDEST WORKING FORWARD

The QUIZNOS HARDEST WORKING FORWARD OF THE MONTH is rookie forward MACAULEY CARSON. CARSON was selected by the Wolves in the second round of the 2015 OHL Priority Selection and has been steadily improving as he grows more comfortable at the OHL level. Carson has an extremely strong work ethic both on and off the ice, and the Sudbury Wolves would like to thank Macauley for his hard work and commitment and look forward to him continuing his development with the Wolves over the next couple of seasons.

QUIZNOS HARDEST WORKING DEFENCEMAN

The QUIZNOS HARDEST WORKING DEFENCEMAN OF THE MONTH is sophomore defenceman, REAGAN O'GRADY. O'GRADY was acquired from the Kingston Frontenacs last January and has been very steady on the blueline this season for the Wolves. Through 11 games in January, the Lindsay, ON native added 3 assists and was a -1. O'Grady is always trying to improve his play and works incredibly hard both on and off the ice. The Sudbury Wolves would like to thank Reagan for his hard work this season.

SKATER'S EDGE PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Forward MATT SCHMALZ is the winner of the SKATER'S EDGE PLAYER OF THE MONTH award for January. After a slow start to the season, the Dunnville, ON native had a strong January notching 8 points in 11 games, including 3 goals and 5 assists. The Wolves will be counting on the veteran forward for his leadership down the stretch as the Wolves push for a playoff spot. The Los Angeles Kings prospect currently sits sixth in team scoring with 28 points in 45 games. The Wolves would like to congratulate Matt on his tremendous play during the month of January!

Presentations for the Player of the Month awards will begin the weekend of Friday February 19th when the Wolves host the when the Wolves host the Peterborough Petes at 7:00pm.
