Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Owen Sound Attack are set to host their first ever Heart Beats & Hockey Sticks game in support of the Owen Sound Cardiac Rehabilitation Program on Saturday night when the Guelph Storm come to town.

But first, they have to do battle with another Midwest foe when they head to London to play the Knights on Friday, Feb. 5 for a 7:30pm contest.

The Attack enter the weekend having won two straight games by scores of 5-2 over the Eastern Conference powerhouse Kingston Frontenacs and the Ottawa 67s, while London is on a mini two-game losing streak thanks to an 8-3 drubbing at the hands of Windsor in their last outing.

Friday night's matchup at the Bud, which can be viewed live on Rogers Local 53 or listened to on Kia of Owen Sound Terry's Trailer Service Bear Radio, will mark the 6th and final meeting of the season between the Attack and Knights.

Owen Sound, who sits at 21-17-6-3 on the season and in 6th place in the Western Conference, has won two of the five previous games, including a thrilling 4-3 overtime contest in the last meeting between the Attack and Knights on Dec. 19.

Christian Dvorak leads London into Friday's affair with 84 points in 34 games on the season, 2nd only to Barrie's Kevin Labanc who has 85 points in 45 games. Knights' co-captain Mitchell Marner is 3rd in league scoring with 73 points, while Matthew Tkachuk makes it three London forwards in the league's top five with 70 points on the year.

Coming off of a weekend that saw him pick up five points in two games, Bryson Cianfrone has overtaken the Attack's team scoring lead with 35 points on the year. Rookie forward Nick Suzuki recorded a hat-trick in Owen Sound's last game and now has 14 goals on the season, which leads the team in that category.

Following Friday's game, the Attack will return to the Bayshore for a special contest against the Guelph Storm on Saturday night.

In partnership with Grey Bruce Health Service and Leeder and Associates Wealth Management Group of RBC Dominion Securities, the Attack are pleased to present the first ever Heartbeats And Hockey Sticks event in support of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program.

Saturday's game will feature a silent auction, as well as a live auction of special jerseys following the game. Former Attack forward Jeffrey Gilligan, who was forced out of the game because of a heart condition, will be on hand for a ceremonial puck drop.

The Attack and Storm will be meeting for the 5th time this year, with Owen Sound boasting a 2-1-0-1 record in the season series.

Guelph, led by James McEwan's 37 points, is 10th in the Western Conference at 10-32-4-2 on the season and is coming off of a 4-1 loss to Mississauga on Wednesday night.

Tickets for Saturday's game are available at the DJ's Furniture Attack Box Office, online at www.attackhockey.com, or by calling 519-371-7452.
