Everett Silvertips News Release
VICTORIA, B.C. - Everett goaltender Dustin Wolf posted a 29-save shutout boosting three goals in the final two periods of play to lift the Everett Silvertips over the Victoria Royals, 3-0, before 4,913 fans at Save on Foods Memorial Centre on Saturday night.
Wolf recorded his fourth shutout on the season while forward Justyn Gurney potted his first goal in a Silvertip uniform. Everett improves to 33-9-1-1 on the season, atop of the Western Conference with 68 points.
UP NEXT: The Tips return to home ice on Friday, Jan. 18, against the Kelowna Rockets at 7:35. Tickets available at everettsilvertips.com/tickets (1380 AM / 95.3 FM / Tips App / WHL Live).
In a scoreless first period, both teams split an early roughing call at 1:08, while the Silvertips held the edge on shots, 8-7. Everett had a great scoring opportunity mid-way through the period as defenseman Sahvan Khaira fed captain Connor Dewar with a tape-to-tape pass as Dewar was crashing in the slot.
The Tips took an early second period lead at 1:36, as forward Zack Andrusiak deposited his 31st goal on the season, his 10th goal in the past eight games. Andrusiak collected a rebound and snuck a backhand shot past the skate of Royals goaltender Griffen Outhouse. Rookie defenseman Ronan Seeley and import forward Martin Fasko-Rudas both recorded assists on the play.
Wolf remained perfect through two periods, turning away 13 shots in the period, while the tips peppered Outhouse with 15 shots in the second.
Everett forward Justyn Gurney recorded his first goal as a Silvertip at 8:10, which put the Tips up 2-0. Flyers prospect Wyatte Wylie's shot from the point deflected off Gurney and trickled through Outhouse's legs.
Silvertips center Reece Vitelli made it 3-0 as he hammered a one-timed shot on a two-on-one break at 10:35. Khaira fed Bryce Kindopp the puck where he drove into the offensive zone and delivered a patient pass between a defender's legs to Vitelli.
Outhouse finished the game with 26 saves.
