Vancouver Giants forward David Koch celebrates a goal vs. the Victoria Royals

Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver Giants (26-12-2-0) lead on Victoria in the B.C. Division standings is now at nine points thanks to a 3-2 home victory Sunday over the Victoria Royals (22-17-1-0) in front of 3700-plus at the Langley Events Centre. Davis Koch and Tristen Nielsen each earned a goal and two assists while Bowen Byram extended his point-streak to six games with a first period goal. David Tendeck earned the win for the Giants making 19 saves on 21 shots faced. Jameson Murray and Scott Walford had the goals in response for the Royals who got 24 saves from goaltender Brock Gould.
1st Period:
VAN - Bowen Byram (13) kicked off the game's scoring with his 13th of the season off a phenomenal no-look feed from Davis Koch along the right-wing boards. Byram's third goa lof the weekend came at 9:34 with Tristen Nielsen also earning an assist.
Shots: 11-5 Vancouver.
2nd Period:
VAN - Tristen Nielsen (6) extended the Giants lead to 2-0 at 12:25 when his shot from the slot went bar-down on Brock Gould. Davis Koch had the lone assist.
VIC - Less than two minutes later Jameson Murray (3) got Victoria back within a goal when he snuck a low shot past the right pad of David Tendeck at 14:12.
Shots: 9-7 Victoria.
3rd Period:
VAN - Davis Koch (13) restored the Giants two-goal lead at 13:12 when he followed up a Tristen Nielsen rebound, and snuck a low shot past a sprawled Brock Gould.
VIC - Montreal Canadiens prospect Scott Walford (5) inched Victoria back within a goal at 16:59 when he converted off a Kaid Oliver rebound from the right-wing circle. That was as close as the Royals would get though as the Giants held off a late charge with the net empty to secure the win.
