Connecticut Whale News Release

Hartford, October 5, 2004 - The Hartford Wolf Pack will face the Worcester IceCats in their only 'home' game against another AHL club during the preseason. The Pack will play the IceCats at Champions Skating Center in Cromwell tomorrow night, Wednesday, October 6. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

The team is currently carrying 36 players, which will be pared down to about 23 by the weekend. This game gives coaching staff one of only a few opportunities to see prospects in a real game situation. "Although we've had a number of intra-squad scrimmages and games, it's impossible to tell how a player will react in a real play situation against an opponent," said head coach Ryan McGill. "This one home game, and two road games against Springfield and Bridgeport Friday and Saturday, will really make the difference for some players."

Tickets for the game are available at the door, and cost $5.00. Proceeds from the game to go support minor hockey in the Cromwell area. The team is playing its annual Blue and White scrimmage tonight at Veterans Memorial Arena in West Hartford tonight. The public is invited to attend, and tickets are available at the door for $5.00, with proceeds once again, going to local minor hockey.

The Pack kicks off the regular season on Saturday, October 16 with a game against the Philadelphia Phantoms. The game starts at 7:05 p.m., with a huge laser and pyrotechnics show pre-game, along with the introduction of the 2004-05 squad.

The AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack hockey club is part of Madison Square Garden LP. Cablevision Systems Corporation owns a controlling interest in MSG LP, which also includes the New York Rangers (NHL), New York Knicks (NBA), the New York Liberty (WNBA), the MSG Network, Fox Sports Net and the Madison Square Garden arena complex.
