Pirates Announce 2004-2005 Promotions Schedule

PORTLAND, ME – The Portland Pirates will kick off their twelfth season as a member of the American Hockey League with a bang at home on Saturday, October 16, 2004 when they host the St. John's Maple Leafs.

Hockey Night in Portland will begin with pre-game specials at local restaurants including David's, Rivalries, Mavericks, Margarita's, Boru's and Gritty's. Before the game, the first 5,000 fans will receive official magnetic Pirates schedules courtesy of Paul G. White Tile Co. Inc.. Before and during the game, A.C Moore will also have their craft tables available for fans to make Pirates signs and posters to cheer on their team. Fans will also be able to pose as a Pirate with the Pirates new life size cut out of Steve Eminger. The night will also feature a United Way t-shirt fundraiser. A special United Way campaign t-shirt has been designed with the Pirates logo compliments of Atlantic Sportswear and Olympia Sports. The proceeds from the t-shirts will go to the 2004 United Way of Greater Portland to increase awareness of the 2004 Greater Portland Community Care Fund which is chaired by Pirates' Managing Owner/CEO Brian Petrovek. After the game, the Pirates will host the largest indoor fireworks display in the northeast provided by Atlas PyroVision Productions, sponsored by the Cumberland County Civic Center. Fans can also join the Pirates players after the game at The Stadium Restaurant and Sports Bar for the first of 17 Saturday nights post-game parties. The Stadium Restaurant and Sports Bar will also feature live entertainment and drink specials for Pirates fans every Saturday night.

The 2004-05 Pirates home game promotional schedule is built around Saturday nights, which will be promoted as "Hockey Night in Portland." On these 17 Saturdays throughout the season the Pirates will feature in arena promotions, live entertainment, contests and giveaways similar to opening night.

Pirates Home Games Promotional Line-up:

· Saturday, 10/16 - First 5,000 fans will receive an official Pirates Magnetic Schedule from Paul G. White Tile Co. Inc. and the Pirates. Spectacular indoor fireworks show after the game sponsored by Cumberland County Civic Center.

· Sunday, 10/17 - Skate with the Pirates after the game. Do you want to meet your favorite player, get autographs, or show Pirates players your skills? After the Pirates game, all fans in attendance will have the opportunity to "Skate with the Team" on the Pirates' home ice. This on ice promotion (skates are required for those who wish to go on the ice) lasts for 45 minutes.

· Saturday, 10/30 - Messer Truck Equipment- Homesteader plow giveaway to one lucky fan, including installation, valued at $2,995 courtesy of Fisher Plows and Messer Truck Equipment.

· Sunday, 11/7 - Skate with the Pirates after game sponsored by MainelyKids.com.

· Saturday, 11/13 - VIP Parts, Tires and Service T-Shirt Night- all fans in attendance will receive a VIP Parts, Tires and Service/Pirates T-Shirt.

· Friday, 11/19 - Hewins Carlson Wagonlit Travel/Royal Caribbean Night – One lucky fan will win a five night Caribbean cruise for 2 adults and 1 child. Sign up to win upon entering.

· Saturday, 11/20 - Dacor Grill Giveaway (valued at $3,500) courtesy of Agren Appliance (South Portland) and Dacor.

· Saturday, 11/27 - Time Warner Digital Phone Night. All fans in attendance will receive a premium item from Time Warner Digital Phone. Also on this night, the Pirates will continue to support the Toys for Tots program, where fans can bring an unwrapped toy to be given away to a less fortunate child over the holidays.

· Sunday, 11/28 - Toys for Tots will conclude their toy collection before and during the game.

· Saturday, 12/18 - First of two US Cellular Nights. Fans will receive the first set of 14 Portland Pirates player collector cards sponsored by US Cellular. This night will also be the first of three nights the Pirates will be wearing their commemorative Holiday jerseys. These same game worn jerseys will be auctioned to the highest bidder online at www.portlandpirates.com beginning Saturday, January 1st. The bidding will close on January 31st. The proceeds of this charitable auction will benefit the Portland Pirates Foundation.

· Sunday, 12/19 - 2nd night for commemorative Holiday jerseys

· Thursday, 12/23 - Final night for commemorative Holiday jerseys before they are auctioned.

· Friday, 12/31 - Kids New Years noisemaker giveaway and fireworks after the game. This will be the tenth time in their history that the Pirates have hosted a Kids' New Years celebration, an Official Event of New Year's Portland, 2004. Stay after the game for the biggest, most spectacular indoor fireworks in the northeast presented by Atlas PyroVision Productions, sponsored by the Cumberland County Civic Center.

· Saturday, 1/8 - Salute the New England Patriots! Meet the New England Patriots cheerleaders, who will perform during the 1st intermission, and sign autographs during the second intermission.

· Sunday, 1/9 - Skate with the Pirates after the game

· Saturday, 1/15 - CBE/Valcom Night. Each fan will receive a premium item from CBE/Valcom (South Portland)

· Saturday, 1/22 – The return of NASCAR night, with drivers, cars, official memorabilia and merchandise, contests, prizes and much, much more!

· Saturday, 1/29 - Dunkin Donuts Night. First 2,500 fans will receive a premium item courtesy of Dunkin Donuts.

· Friday, 2/4 - State Farm Water Bottle Night.

· Saturday, 2/5 - Second of two US Cellular Nights. Fans will receive the second and final set of 14 Portland Pirates player collector cards sponsored by US Cellular.

· Saturday, 2/19 - Hannaford Thunderstick Night. The first 5,000 fans will receive a pair of Pirates/Hannaford Thundersticks to help cheer on your favorite team in town!

· Saturday, 3/12 - Special 2:05pm matinee game as WJAB 95.5FM/1440AM will provide a WJAB/Portland Pirates hockey puck to the first 2,500 fans in attendance.

· Saturday, 3/26 - Hall of Fame Night presented by Bank of America. The Pirates will honor their 8th inductee to the Portland Pirates Hall of Fame, presented by Bank of America.

· Friday, 4/15 - Fan Appreciation Night. Don't miss the last home game of the regular season, as the Pirates thank the fans for their support. Winners will be chosen for "Shirts Off Their Backs" as each player will give his game-worn jersey away to a lucky fan in attendance. The night will also feature 2004-05 Player Awards

Pirates fans can also keep an eye out for Team Picture Night, sponsored by Maine Credit Union League.

In addition to the season-long Pirates promotional schedule, fans can expect at every game: players signing autographs during intermission, the new Wendy's Power Play, which gives one row of fans a chance to win Wendy's coupons if the Pirates score on their first power play of the game. The Pirates will also continue other popular activities including, VIP Parts, Tires and Service Tire-Toss, jersey raffle and t-shirt toss, Hannaford Trivia for a $50 gift certificate, your chance to win a 2004 Dodge Magnum with SCORE-O, the new Kid's SCORE-O, where kids can win sticks, shirts and gift certificates presented by Olympia Sports.
