Cleveland Barons News Release

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Barons, in conjunction with San Jose Sharks, today announced that the regular season AHL contest between the Barons and Edmonton Road Runners on November 9th, originally scheduled to be played at National City Rink at Gund Arena, will take place in San Jose, California at HP Pavilion at 10:30 EST. Greg Jamison, President/CEO of the San Jose Sharks, and Michael T. Lehr, President of the Cleveland Barons, made the announcement.

Due to the revised travel itinerary of playing in California on that Tuesday, the Barons also announced that the 10:30am matinee game scheduled for November 11th has been rescheduled for 7pm. That night the Barons will host the Manitoba Moose.

"Our mission here is to give our young talent every chance to succeed. By giving them the chance to play at HP Pavilion will give them a taste, if they haven't had one already, of what being in the Sharks organization is all about," stated Lehr. "Also, due the taxing travel schedule, we felt to compete at the highest level possible and to give our players a chance to fully recover, that we push the start time back for the game on the 11th."

All fans holding tickets for the game on the 9th will be able to redeem their tickets for any other regular season Barons home game on the schedule at the same price level. Also, season ticket holders who can make the trip to San Jose will receive a free ticket to the Barons game against Edmonton.

"We recognize that our fans will be disappointed that the game on the 9th is being moved. However, this is a unique situation for our organization, which we hope our fans can understand. We feel that a 7pm start time on the 11th will make the game more accessible to our core fans since we have moved the 9th," remarked Lehr.

Anyone wishing to make the trip to San Jose will be offered a special flight package through the Barons travel company, Astro Travel/Carlson-Wagonlit. An all-inclusive package including three nights accommodations at Sir Francis Drake Hotel in San Francisco, tickets to the Barons game, one half-day city sightseeing tour, and transportation to-and-from the airport is included for $537 per person. Reservations for the package can be made by contacting Donna at Astro Travel (440-248-7740).

"We promised our loyal fans that we would strive to provide additional benefits while asking them to bear with us while the NHL season is delayed," said Jamison. "This game is just one of the ways that we are trying to say ‘thank you' to our season ticket holders and offer Sharks fans an exciting chance to see some of the organization's brightest future stars play in San Jose."

The Barons are set to open the 2004-05 home schedule on Saturday, October 16th at National City Rink at Gund Arena at 7pm against the Manitoba Moose. Discounted group tickets are available by calling the Barons Front Office at 216.420.0000. For all ticket information, Crash The Net at www.clevelandbarons.net.
