Wizards Claim Sanders

Bismarck, N.D. (Jan. 13, 2012) - The Dakota Wizard announced that they have claimed forward Patrick Sanders (6-6, 205, UC-Irvine) from the available player pool. To make room on the roster for Sanders, the Wizards waived Taylor Griffin due to injury. Sanders will be in uniform tonight as the Wizards play host to the Tulsa 66ers.

Sanders, the sixteenth-ranked scorer in UC-Irvine history, went to training camp with the Los Angeles D-Fenders during the 2008-2009 NBA Development League season. He would be traded during training camp to the Iowa Energy were he would average 13.9 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists, while shooting 41.7 percent from the 3 point line in 41 games (36 starts) during his rookie season. Sanders recently played for the Sydney Kings in the Australian-NBL where he averaged 13.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 21 games.

As a senior, he was named first-team All-Big West leading the Anteaters in scoring averaging 15.8 points per game.

The current roster stands at 10 players.
