Rockford Aviators News Release

MARION, IL - A solo shot by Tanner Witt was all the Aviators needed as they snapped a four-game losing streak and avoided the sweep by the Southern Illinois Miners tonight, winning 1-0.

Witt led of the game with a solo shot to left-center that went nearly 400 feet to put the Aviators up 1-0 in the top of the first inning.

Kyle Brueggmann pitched the best game of his season as he went eight innings and allowed seven hits, no walks, and struck out six batters. He allowed just one Miners runner to advance past second base.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Miners had their best chance to tie the game up as they had runners at the corners with two outs before Aaron Gates struck out to end the inning.

Gerardo Sanchez rebounded after blowing his first save of the season last night and picked up his eleventh save after striking out the final batter to seal the win.

The Aviators return home on Tuesday night to open up a three game series against the league-leading Gateway Grizzlies at 7:05 p.m.

Tuesday night will be Faith Night at the ballpark and local church groups can receive complimentary tickets for the game by calling the Aviators box office at 815-885-2255.
