
With Flames On Break, Regehr Re-Assigned to Knights

Omaha, NE - The Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights announced today that the Calgary Flames, their NHL affiliate, have re-assigned defenseman Richie Regehr to Omaha. Regehr is expected to join the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights in Winnipeg, Manitoba tonight for the second of two games with the Manitoba Moose. Game time is 7:30 p.m. from the MTS Centre. The Flames began a two-week break for the 2006 Olympic Winter Games following last night's 3-2 overtime win over the St. Louis Blues.
Regehr made his NHL debut on December 29th vs. Minnesota, posting his first NHL point/assist on the game-winning goal. He has played in 14 games with Calgary this season, posting two assists and six penalty minutes. In 36 games with the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights, Regehr has collected 20 points (3 goals, 17 assists) with two power play goals, one short-handed goal and 40 penalty minutes. Earlier this month, Regehr participated in the 2006 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic in Winnipeg, scoring a goal and adding an assist in the All-Star Game. In 100 AHL career games, Regehr has accumulated 45 points (12 goals, 33 assists) with 100 penalty minutes with Omaha and Lowell.
The 6'0" 195 lbs. blue liner made his professional debut during the 2004-05 campaign after playing in 307 games in the Western Hockey League with Kelowna and Portland posting 199 points (49 goals, 150 assists) and 355 penalty minutes. The Flames signed Regehr as a free agent on July 6, 2004.

Following tonight's game, the Knights return home on Thursday, February 16th to host the San Antonio Rampage at 7:00 p.m.
