Adirondack Phantoms News Release

CHICAGO - Heading into Saturday night's action, the Philadelphia Phantoms had played 771 games over 9 ½ seasons without a player ever scoring four goals in a single night. But left wing Tony Voce changed that, recording the first four-goal game in franchise history to carry the club to a 6-1 victory over the Chicago Wolves.

After a scoreless first period, the Phantoms blew the game open with four goals in the second frame. Matt Ellison started things off at 3:42 when he fired a puck past the blocker side of Wolves starting goaltender Tuomas Tarkki.

The first goal of Voce's career night came less than three minutes later at the 6:33 mark with a backhander on the power play. B.J. Abel then made it a 3-0 game when he stuffed home a pass from Brent Kelly at 15:43, giving Philadelphia three goals on eight shots in the second period and chasing Tarkki from the nets in favor of Michael Garnett. Voce welcomed Garnett to the ice at the 17:23 mark with his second of the night, which came on a two-on-one with Marc Cavosie.

Early in the second period, Chicago put the only chink of the night in the armor of Phantoms goaltender Jamie Storr when Scott Barney scored at 2:42, just six seconds into a Wolves power play.

At the 15:21 mark, Voce completed the 24th hat trick in Phantoms history and the team's third of the season when Jim Campbell fed him on a breakaway that he finished with a shot underneath Garnett's right pad. The historic tally came at 17:09, assisted by Stefan Ruzicka and Josh Gratton.

Voce's exceptional night was balanced on the defensive end by a stellar night from Storr, who stopped 36 of 37 shots to earn the win. The offensive explosion came after Philadelphia had gone without a goal in each of its last two road games. The six goals on the night tied a season high for the club, and the four-goal second period marked the most goals scored by the Phantoms in any single period this season.

The Phantoms return home Sunday to host the Springfield Falcons at the Wachovia Center at 6:05. The first 4,000 fans will receive an Antero Niittymaki figurine courtesy of Toyota, and the game will be televised by Comcast SportsNet on a one-hour tape delay beginning at 7pm. As always, kids tickets for all Phantoms games are just $8.00. Tickets are available online at www.phantomshockey.com or by phone at (215) 336-2000, (856) 338-9000 or (302) 984-2000.
