Wisconsin Herd Wins Gold in Grand Rapids

OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Wisconsin Herd, the NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, beat the Grand Rapids Gold 112-106 in the second game of the back-to-back series. The Herd's offense was heavily guided by Sandro Mamukelashvili with a career-high 32 points and 14 rebounds. Rob Edwards added 18 points followed by four Herd players, Brandon Randolph, Iverson Molinar, Lindell Wigginton and Jontay Porter, with double digits.
The Gold was led by Jared Butler with 22 points and Adonis Arms posted 20 points.
The Gold took the lead at the start of the game, but the Herd was quick to tie 6-6 at the ten-minute mark. Sandro Mamukelashvili led a huge offensive surge for the Herd scoring 10 straight points. The Herd continued the offensive attack scoring 11 more consecutive points to go ahead 27-23 at the end of the first quarter.
The Gold opened the second quarter by tying the game 27-27. The Herd outscored the Gold 8-5 to take a 35-32 lead with eight minutes remaining. Lindell Wigginton converted two consecutive baskets to keep the Herd ahead. The two teams exchanged the lead six times before the Gold went on an 11-0 run going up by nine points. Lindell Wigginton and Sandro Mamukelashvili joined forces to bring the Herd within four (59-55) at the end of the half. Sandro Mamukelashvili guided the Herd with 19 points setting a season-high for points in the first half.
Brandon Randolph and Sandro Mamukelashvili dominated at the beginning of the third quarter combining for 10 points. The Herd continued the streak going up by 11 points with five minutes remaining in the third quarter. The Gold came back to within five after scoring seven unanswered points. Grand Rapids continued its trek back, but the Herd held on to lead 84-83 at the end of the third quarter.
Iverson Molinar propelled the Herd to a 10-point head start at the beginning of the fourth quarter. The Gold put up a fight but back-to-back baskets from Sandro Mamukelashvili kept the Herd in front by nine with five minutes left. The Gold clawed back but four final points from Rob Edwards secured the win for the Herd 112-106.
The Herd will play again on the road against the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Sunday, December 4 with tip-off set for 3:00 p.m. CST.
