SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, fell to the South Bay Lakers 120-125 tonight to begin their two-game road trip against South Bay.

Tyler Cook led Salt Lake City with an astounding 32 points to go along with eight rebounds and four assists. Rawle Alkins added 23 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Frank Jackson returned to the court and chipped in 20 points and four rebounds coming off the bench. While two other Stars starters hit double-digits with both Paris Bass and Isaiah Miller contributing 11 each while Bass also grabbed seven rebounds.

Salt Lake City got off to a slow start and trailed South Bay by as many as 15 in the first half. The South Bay Lakers were able to hold Salt Lake City to just 33 percent from the field. The Stars would cut into that lead in the second half, closing the gap to within six with just over two minutes left in the third quarter. The Lakers would again extend their lead to double-digits in the fourth quarter. The Stars managed to fight back in the final minutes cutting to a single-digit deficit. With one point and just under three minutes to play the Stars rallied 115-114. Center Tyler Cook added 12 points and Rawle Alkins tacked on 11 for the Stars in the final quarter to make a final run at victory. The Stars fell unsuccessful as the Lakers grabbed the 125-120 win as the buzzer sounded.

South Bay's Scotty Pippen Jr. paced all scorers with 35 points off the bench going 10-of-16 as he was sent to the free-throw line. Lakers guard Shaquille Harrison contributed a total 25 points paired with six assists against the Stars. South Bay starter Devin Cannady finished the game with 20 points.

The Stars held the advantage in field-goals (49-40), assists (23-20), rebounds (48-44) and fast break points (17-9), while the Lakers blocked more shots (12-4) and tallied more three-pointers (10-7).

Salt Lake City will continue its two-game road stand against the South Bay Lakers on Thursday, Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. (MT).
