Winterhawks Shoot Down T-Birds

Ty Rattie had a hat trick and Brad Ross had two goals to lead the Portland Winterhawks to an 11-2 win over the Seattle Thunderbirds at Memorial Coliseum Saturday.

The T-Birds will face the Spokane Chiefs Sunday at ShoWare Center at 5:05. Seattle (20-36-1-1) started the day tied for seventh place in the Western Conference Playoff standings with Victoria. Victoria hosted the Prince George Cougars Saturday night in a game that started at 7pm.

Justin Hickman scored for Seattle at 9:22 of the first period when he tipped a Burke Gallimore shot past Portland goalie Brendan Burke.

Marcel Noebels had two goals and Oliver Gabriel, Brendan Liepsic, Chase De Leo and Pearce Eviston also scored for the Winterhawks.

Colin Jacobs had Seattle's second goal, which came at 17:25 of the third. Shea Theodore had the only assist on the goal.

Portland (40-15-2-1) outshot Seattle 48-39 in the game.

Seattle goalie Daniel Cotton made 37 saves on 48 shots and his record falls to 0-6-0-0.

Burke stopped 37 of 39 shots and improved his record to 4-2-1-1.

T-Birds single game tickets for the 2011-12 season are available online at the T-Birds website and at the ShoWare Center box office. The ShoWare Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday game days at 10 a.m. and Sunday game days at noon.
