
Oil Kings Fall In Road Trip Finale

Vancouver, BC - The Edmonton Oil Kings closed out their 6-game road trip with a 6 - 2 loss to the Giants in Vancouver. The home team scored three quick goals in the third period to pull away in a tight game including goals just :44 seconds apart from Leduc, AB native Jordan Martinook and Jackson Houck. Vancouver sweeps the season series between the two teams 3 games to none. Meanwhile, Edmonton finishes their 2 week road trip with 7 of a possible 12 points.
Tyler Maxwell netted his 35th goal of the season and picked up an assist while Michael St. Croix added a pair of helpers for the Oil Kings in the losing cause.
Vancouver jumped out to a 2 - 0 lead after twenty minutes of play thanks to a pair of 4 on 4 goals from Brendan Gallagher and Cain Franson. Maxwell responded with a powerplay goal just 25 seconds into the middle frame tapping in a rebound after a big point shot from Vancouver native Griffin Reinhart. Rhett Rachinski tied the game at 2 with another powerplay goal midway through the hockey game.
Vancouver carried a 3 - 2 lead into the dressing room after 40 minutes but it was the three goals in 6:14 seconds that made the difference for the Giants who clinched a playoff spot earlier in the night.
The Oil Kings will return to the friendly confines of Rexall Place on Family Day, February 20th as they welcome Anaheim Ducks first round pick Emerson Etem and the Medicine Hat Tigers. It's a special Family friendly 2PM puck drop with the doors opening at 1 PM and the first 500 fans at the game will receive a Devan Dubnyk World Junior Bobblehead.
