Winston-Salem Dash News Release
BOWLING GREEN, KY - The final game of a six-game series between the Winston-Salem Dash and Bowling Green Hot Rods was suspended on August 6th in Winston-Salem tied 4-4 in the top of the 10th inning. Prior to game one of the originally scheduled six-game series in Bowling Green starting on Tuesday, the two sides completed the final game and the Dash walked off the Hot Rods, 5-4. In the regularly scheduled game one, the Hot Rods defeated the Dash, 17-1, Tuesday evening at Bowling Green Ballpark.
With the two sides starting in the top of the 10th inning, Bowling Green (53-45) restarted the inning with two outs and a runner at third. Jake Palisch, who was on the mound for Winston-Salem (47-52) on August 6th, went back out to the mound and got a strikeout to end the scoring threat. The Dash put runners on the corners in the bottom of the 10th but could not bring home the winning run and the two sides went to the 11th.
After both teams went down in order in the 11th, Palisch worked another scoreless frame and the Dash had the chance to win it in the bottom of the 12th.
With Jacob Burke starting the inning at second base, a groundout moved him to third. DJ Gladney had the chance to win it, and wasted no time driving in Burke on a single as Winston-Salem walked off Bowling Green, 5-4.
Thirty minutes after the walk-off, Bowling Green and Winston-Salem opened their regularly scheduled series.
Neither side figured out starters Connor McCullough or Sean Harney over the first two innings, but in the third, Bowling Green got to McCullough. The Hot Rods plated four in the frame and took an early lead over the Dash, 4-0.
In the fourth, Winston-Salem turned to the bullpen and Bowling Green was ready. The Hot Rods tacked on five more runs and took a 9-0 lead. Both sides went down in order in the fifth, but the Dash pushed across a run in the sixth on an RBI single from Loidel Chapelli.
Bowling Green wasted no time answering, putting up two runs of its own in the bottom of the frame and led by 10 runs, 11-1. The Hot Rods plated five more runs in the seventh and took down the Dash, 17-1, in game one.
Winston-Salem and Bowling Green meet for game two of the six games series on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:35 p.m. from Bowling Green Ballpark.
