Winston-Salem Dash News Release

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Winston-Salem Dash struggled to score in an 8-1 loss to the Hickory Crawdads.

Hickory scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning. Christian Inoa opened it up with a double, then Frainyer Chavez singled back up the middle to plate Inoa.

The Crawdads added another run in the third, as Chris Seise led off with a single and successfully stole second base. After a strikeout, Evan Carter blooped a single into right field, which was enough for Seise to come around to score.

Seise then tacked on his second RBI of the game in the home half of the fifth, with a solo blast to put the 'Dads up 3-0. The inning rolled along with a Jayce Easley double, before Evan Carter knocked him in with a single. Carter then swiped second, putting him in position to score on the ground-rule double by Thomas Saggese to give Hickory a 5-0 edge. The very next batter Christia Inoa kept the line moving with an RBI single to plate Saggese, which was the final run scored in a four-spot for the Crawdads.

Hickory kept adding on in the seventh inning, up 6-0. Alejandro Osuna singled, then a walk to Saggese and a single from Inoa loaded the bases with no outs. The Crawdads were able to score two runs in the frame, on a sacrifice fly and an RBI fielder's choice, pushing their lead to 8-0.

The Dash did get a run back in the top of the eighth, on a leadoff home run by Bryan Ramos. That was all Winston-Salem could put together, as Hickory won 8-1. Robby Ahlstrom earned the win, and Andrew Dalquist got the loss.
