Winston-Salem Dash News Release

WINSTON-SALEM DASH (19-21) vs. POTOMAC NATIONALS (22-19)

RHP Bryan Blough (2-4, 5.82 ERA) vs. LHP Robbie Ray (3-2, 2.36 ERA)

7 p.m. - BB&T Ballpark (Winston-Salem, NC)

DASH RALLY FOR LAST AT-BAT VICTORY Down by a pair in the bottom of the eighth, Winston-Salem rallied with three in its final at-bat to best the Potomac Nationals 5-4 Friday night inside BB&T Ballpark. Kevan Smith began the eighth-inning rally with an RBI single, and Jeremy Farrell chased him home with a double to knot the score. The hit of distinction was Mark Haddow's run-producing single. Jason Van Skike and Terance Marin combined for four and two-thirds innings of relief and did not allow an earned run behind starter Ryan Buch, who made his 2013 Dash debut (4.1 IP, 3 R, 8 H).

NO LOVE IN NC The Dash continued their recent dominance against the P-Nats in the Triad on Friday. Winston-Salem has won 11 straight home games against the Nats, including all 10 during the 2012 regular season. Since BB&T Ballpark opened in 2010, Winston boasts a 24-7 (.774) home record against Potomac. A year ago, the P-Nats were just 2-18 in the state of North Carolina. In addition to the 0-10 mark in the Triad, the Nationals were 2-8 against Carolina at Five County Stadium. Their first win in the Old North State came on August 28 in Zebulon.

LAST AT-BAT FUN Winston-Salem notched its fourth last at-bat win of the 2013 season last night. These four games also mark the four total times that the Dash have mustered comeback wins when trailing in the seventh inning or later. Winston erased ninth-inning deficits on April 9 at Frederick and April 26 in Wilmington, while the Dash overcame a four-run deficit in the seventh inning against the Keys on May 8 before walking off with a 12-9 triumph in the 11th inning.

BLOUGH THEM AWAY Righty Bryan Blough will make his second start in a row against the P-Nats, and the first one was a gem. Blough blanked the Nationals over seven innings on Monday, propelling the Dash to a sweep-avoiding 7-0 win at Pfitzner Stadium.

HEISLER'S STREAK NOW MiLB'S BEST Dating back to last season, Winston-Salem outfielder Adam Heisler has reached base in 40 straight games, which is now the longest current streak in Minor League Baseball. Jamal Austin of High Desert (High-A, Seattle) had hit safely in 47 straight contests before an 0-for-4 showing against Inland Empire on Friday. On the flip side, Heisler turned in his sixth multi-hit effort with the Dash last night. He banged out a single in both the first and sixth innings in Winston's victory.

MORE ON THE ON-BASE STREAK Heisler reached in his final three games of 2012 while with rookie-level Great Falls before finding his way on base in all 37 games this year (19 with Low-A Kannapolis and 18 with Winston-Salem). Heisler has hit safely in 31 of these 40 games, during which he owns a .303 average (47-for-155) with 16 RBIs and 27 runs scored.

DEFENSIVE DIP Despite the league's top two defensive clubs squaring off Friday night, the series opener featured a combined six errors (three apiece). The P-Nats pace the Carolina League with a fielding percentage of .976, while the Dash sit in second with a .975 mark. These two clubs are the only two on the circuit with less than one defensive miscue per game. Potomac has committed 36 errors in 41 games thus far this season, while the Dash have erred 38 times in their 40 games.

BB&T BALLPARK REACHES ONE MILLION The Dash celebrated the one millionth fan in BB&T Ballpark history Thursday night. Since the ballpark opened on April 13, 2010, a total of 1,010,727 fans have attended a Dash game at BB&T Ballpark. To celebrate, the Dash let one lucky fan (Alisa Keegan) play a game of chance on the field following the bottom of the seventh inning Thursday for one of three prizes: one million dollars, a two-year lease on a $30,000 vehicle from Flow Companies or two Dash tickets for life. She ended up winning the two Dash tickets for life.
