
Wings Sweep Double Header

FORT WORTH, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings (28-25) swept the Fort Worth Cats (33-23) in game two of the twin bill 5-1 Thursday night at LaGrave field.
In the bottom of the first inning Josh Band scored on a fielder's choice off the bat of David Bergin giving the Cats an early 1-0 lead.
The Wings answered back with a leadoff walk from Thomas Shull who later scored on an RBI single from Kenta Nishii tying the game at 1-1.
Paul Montalbano came to the plate with bases loaded and two outs. Montalbano looped in a base hit into left field scoring Eduardo Sosa and Kevin Lusson giving the Wings a 3-1 lead.
RGV added an insurance run in the top of the seventh with an RBI single from Shull scoring Roberto Ramirez making it 4-1.
Goose Kallunki added one more run on an infield single from Kevin Lusson adding to the lead making it 5-1 RGV.
WhiteWings starting pitcher Brett Miller (1-0) went the distance pitching a complete game allowing one unearned run on just two hits.
The series finale is set for Saturday as RGV sends ace pitcher Brett Kennedy to the mound. Kennedy will face off against Aaron Wilkerson in a battle between two of the leagues best.
