Roadrunners Take Twin Bill

SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners swept the double-header from the San Angelo Colts by a score of 6-2 on Friday night at Foster Field.
Edinburg took game one of the double-header by a score of 6-4.
The Roadrunners (26-28) got the scoring in the third inning when Michael Haynes took a walk to start the inning then advanced to second a groundball. Travis Clark would hit an RBI single that would allow Haynes to score making it 1-0.
San Angelo (26-26) would tie the game up at one in the third inning when Joseph Hicks would drive in Jordan Marks who also reached on a walk.
Edinburg would bat around the line-up in the fifth inning scoring five runs and it was capped off by a Tim Maitland two run single which made it 3-1. RBI singles by Trevor Whyte, Ryde Rodriguez, and Clark extended the score to 6-1.
The Colts would add a run in the fifth inning on a Jon Dziomba RBI single to end game scoring at 6-2.
Edinburg starter Maximino De La Cruz (4-1) earned the win going five innings while giving up one earned run and striking out three.
Colts starter Corey Frerichs (4-5) took the loss going four and two thirds innings allowing six earned runs.
The series between the Colts and Roadrunners concludes on Saturday night at Foster Field with the first pitch set for 7:05 pm.
The Roadrunners return home on Thursday, July 25th when they host the San Angelo Colts for a four game series and it will be Thirsty Thursday were all beer will be sold at a discounted price. Gates open at 6:05 pm and first pitch at 7:05 pm.
