Colts Crush Roadrunners in Finale

San Angelo, Texas --- The San Angelo Colts scored in just four innings, but it was more than enough, as they defeated the Edinburg Roadrunners, 18-10, Saturday night at Foster Field.
San Angelo got going with an eight-run second inning. Right fielder Cody Hudson hit a two-RBI single, left fielder Joseph Hicks smacked a three-RBI double, and third baseman Steve Rinaudo capped the inning off with a a two-run homer. It was Rinaudo's team-best seventh home run of the year.
Hudson had a spectacular game, as he became the first Colt this season to have a five-hit game. Hudson went 5-for-6 with two RBIs and four runs scored.
Roadrunners' starter Antony Bello did not get out of the second inning. Bello (3-5) gave up seven runs on six hits in just 1 1/3 innings for the loss.
Ahead 8-3 in the third, the Colts scored five more runs. Rinaudo hit a three-run double to give himself five RBIs on the night.
The Roadrunners mounted a small comeback in the late innings, but it was hardly enough to overcome their weak pitching. Edinburg scored five runs in the last three innings, but player/manager Ozzie Canseco struck out looking to end the game.
Colts' starter Derek Christensen (5-2) earned the win. He allowed eight runs, seven earned, on 11 hits in 6 2/3 innings.
The win improves San Angelo to 27-26, while the loss drops Edinburg to 26-29. The Colts travel to Fort Worth Sunday to begin a three-game series against the Cats at LaGrave Field.
The Cats and Colts will play a doubleheader Sunday evening at 6:05 p.m. The game can be heard live on 1260 KKSA, beginning at 5:50 p.m.
The Colts begin an eight-game road trip against the Fort Worth Cats and the Edinburg Roadrunners Sunday night. They then return home for their last 12-game home stand of the regular season on Tuesday, July 30.
