Early Runs Leads Colts' Victory

SAN ANGELO, Texas - The San Angelo Colts used an eight run second inning to defeat the Edinburg Roadrunners by score of 18-10 at Foster Field.

The Colts (27-26) got on the board in the second inning when Justin Reed reached on a single with one out, then moved to third on a double by Bubby Williams. After a walk to Jordan Marks which loaded the bases, Cody Hudson hit a double that scored Reed and Williams for an early 2-0.

After another walk which had the bases loaded, Joseph Hicks hit a bases clearing double which produced three RBI to give the Colts a 5-0. After a single by Derrick Pyles which scored Hicks, it made it 6-0. Steve Rinaudo hit his seventh homerun of the season to end the second inning scoring at 8-0.

The Roadrunners (26-29) responded with three runs in the third inning with RBI singles from Tim Maitland and Michael Haynes.

San Angelo would then score 10 runs in the next three innings with Pyles and Rinuado getting multiple RBIs to put the game out of reach.

Edinburg would score five runs in the seventh and eighth innings which to end the scoring at 18-10.

San Angelo starter Derek Christensen (5-2) earned the win going six and two-thirds innings giving up seven earned runs.

Edinburg starter Antony Bello (3-5) took the loss going one and a third innings giving up seven runs.

The Roadrunners continue their eight game road trip on Sunday night when they face the Rio Grande Valley White Wings at Harlingen Field with the first pitch set for 7:05 pm.

The Roadrunners return home on Thursday, July 25th when they host the San Angelo Colts for a four game series and it will be Thirsty Thursday were all beer will be sold at a discounted price. Gates open at 6:05 pm and first pitch at 7:05 pm.
