
Wings Lose 3-2, Minot Ties NAHL Record

The Aberdeen Wings were in action Friday night taking on the Minot Minotauros in NAHL Central Division action. For the Wings, the past few matchups have ended in split weekends. For the Minotauros, they are chasing an NAHL record. Minot currently has 13 straight road victories. The last team to do that was the 2008-2009 Topeka Roadrunners who set the record at 14 straight.
In the first period, the Wings would come out in full force in front of 1,382 Wings fans. At the 7:03 mark, Wings defenseman #15 Brendan Riordan (D-Downers Grove, IL) would score with assist from #25 Tucker DeYoung (F-Lake Bluff, IL). With the Wings leading 1-0, they would get another at the 9:09 mark from #18 Austin Swingle (F-St. Cloud, MN) with assist to #8 Drew Doyon (F-Indianapolis, IN). The Wings would take a 2-0 lead into the locker room.
In the second period, the Minotauros would respond with two goals of their own. Blake Lizotte and John Snodgrass would score for Minot. The Minotauros outshot the Wings 16-6 in the second period. Struggling to gain puck control, the Wings would give up another goal to Minot making the final score 3-2. Wings goaltender #1 Chad Catt (G-Williamston, MI) would stop 31 of 34 shots.
With the win, the Minotauros tied the NAHL record for consecutive road victories.
