Aberdeen, SD - The Minotauros have been the best road team in the NAHL all season long; and now an argument can be made that they are the best road team in the history of the NAHL. Having tied the record of 14 road wins in a row the night before in Aberdeen the Tauros were able to sweep the Wings on Saturday to set the new standard. The win improved the Minotauros to 17-2-1 away from the Maysa Arena.
Just as the night before the Wings struck first when Bjorn Sigurdarson beat Atte Tolvanen at 11:47 of the first. However that would be all that the Tauros would surrender. The Tauros used a big second period to get the win out shooting the Wings 17-7 in the frame and putting three past Aberdeen goaltender Chad Catt. Jacob Dittle drew the Tauros even at 3:01 with a blast from the blue line the deflected in off of a defenseman. Just 1:05 later Nick Monfils scored to give the Tauros a lead they would not relinquish. Late in the period Johnny Walker scored his team record 15th goal of the season giving the Tauros some breathing room. The Tauros continued to control the play in the final period out shooting the Wings 13-7 but Tolvanen passed each test making 20 saves on the night securing the Minotauros 3-1 win.
Minotauros Head Coach Marty Murray praised the team effort on the weekend, "Winning on the road is never easy and I'm proud of our accomplishment. Our team plays with confidence on the road and we've had contributions from everyone up and down the line up."
The Tauros return home to the Maysa next weekend to host the Minnesota Magicians on Friday and Saturday night. The road win streak will then be put to the test on January 30th and 31st in Brookings against the Blizzard.
