AMARILLO, TX - The second period final worked in the favor of the Amarillo Bulls in their game on Friday night at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. The Bulls fired three second period goals and went on to beat the Odessa Jackaloopes 4-1 for their second win in a row.

The victory didn't change much in the NAHL standings for the Bulls as the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees posted a 1-0 triumph in Wichita Falls to keep their South Division lead at two points. The Bulls and the Jacks face one another again on Saturday night.

Charlie Combs, Brady Crabtreee, Luke Novak and Will Harrison notched the Bulls' markers. One of the big differences in the 60 minutes of play was goaltender Anton Martinsson, who was outstanding turning aside 36 of 37 shots he faced, including some big ones on a five on three penalty kill in the second period.

It was a scoreless opening 20 minutes of play both goaltenders Anton Martinsson and Tanner Creel were kept busy making some important stops. Odessa missed on a 2 on 1 break midway through the first, while Will Harrison and AJ Duggan were denied on plays in front. Each team had 9 shots on goal in the first period.

The Bulls had a terrific second period outshooting Odessa 19-9 and scoring three times. Brady Crabtree tipped home a shot from Tristan Rostagno and Charlie Combs just 51 seconds into the stanza. Just over six minutes later, Charlie Combs fired a one-timer past Tanner Creel from Joey DiBenedetto. Luke Novak rounded out the period scoring on the power play from Cody Gylling at the 17:07 mark on the power play. Goaltender Martinsson was outstanding stopping Odessa several times during a 5 on 3 power play opportunity.

The Jackalopes turned up the intensity in the third period and fired off 23 shots on goaltender Anton Martinsson who was able to stop all but one. Odessa final broke the shutout in the final seven minutes of regulation. With the visitors pressing and the goaltender pulled, Will Harrison scooped up the puck and then raced down the ice to deposit it into an empty net. Cody Gylling and Nick LeSage added assists on the play.

The Amarillo Bulls were outshot 37-36 by the visitors. There were seven powerplays with the Bulls going 1 for 4 and the Jackalopes were 0 for 3.

Fans won't want to miss tomorrow (Saturday) night's game at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. American Classified's presents Western Night and the first 500 fans will receive a mini-cowbell.
