Tomahawks Give up Late Goal, Fall to Ice Miners 3-1

The Johnstown Tomahawks and Keystone Ice Miners appeared to be headed towards overtime for a second straight night, but a Jacob Coleman goal and a Matt Jones empty net goal gave the Ice Miners a 3-1 win on Saturday night in Connellsville. The loss is the Tomahawks fifth straight, the longest streak of the season.

After a scoreless first period, Austin Romzek gave Keystone a 1-0 lead, 41 seconds into the second period. Vito Aluia and Lucas Little earned the assists on Romzek's eighth goal of the season.

The score remained the same until Casey Linkenheld tied the game at 5:15 of the third period. Joe Drabin earned an assist on the goal, while Dalton Hunter earned his first point since earning an assist against Soo Nov. 22.

Jacob Coleman earned the victory for the Ice Miners with 3:22 remaining in regulation. LordAnthony Grissom and AJ Coleman picked up the assists on the game-winning goal. Jones set the final score with seven seconds remaining in the game.

Alex Blankenburg earned the win, stopping 37 of 38 shots. Ryan Bednard had an impressive performance in the loss, stopping 37 of 38 shots.

The Tomahawks continue the road trip next weekend, visiting Janesville for a pair of games on Friday and Saturday. Face-off for both games is 8 p.m. EST.
