The Rochester Red Wings got an early home run from Tomas Telis and a strong start from Adam Bray, but the Louisville Bats rallied for a 3-1 win Friday night at Frontier Field. The series continues Saturday with a 7:05 p.m. game (gates open early at 6 p.m.), featuring a performance by the ZOOperstars! and fireworks after the game.

Both Red Wings starter Adam Bray, and Louisville starter Vladamir Gutierrez were able to hold the opposing lineup scoreless through the first three innings. Rochester finally broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth with a solo home run off the bat of Tomas Telis. His eighth home run of the season gave the Wings a 1-0 lead.

Before Jake Reed came on in relief to start the fifth, Bray finished his outing throwing 4.0 innings, allowing three hits, one walk, and striking out three. 40 of his 67 pitches were for strikes. Reed threw 2.0 scoreless innings with two strikeouts.

Fernando Romero entered the game to begin the seventh and surrendered the lead to the Bats. After recording the first two outs of the inning, Romero gave up back-to-back singles to Jose Siri, and Mitch Nay, who both came around to score on a double into the left field corner by Blake Trahan, putting Louisville out in front by a score of 2-1.

Gutierrez finished his outing going 6.0 innings, while allowing three hits, one earned run, one walk, and striking out four. He threw 89 pitches, 62 for strikes.

The Bats extended their lead against Romero in the eighth. Ryan Lavarnway reached base with a single and came around to score on a throwing error by Drew Maggi. Romero was pulled from the game during the eighth after pitching 1.2 innings and was replaced by Jeremy Bleich who registered the third out of the inning with a strikeout.

NOTES: INF Drew Maggi extended his on-base streak to 38 games with a fifth inning walk...The Twins recalled RHP Cody Stashak on Friday...LHP Charlie Barnes was transfered from Double-A Pensacola...INF Jordany Valdespin was returned from his rehab assignment and released.

THIS DAY IN RED WINGS HISTORY

1932 - Rochester pitcher Ray Starr pitched two complete games in a double header against Jersey City. He lost the opener 2-1, but game back to win the second decision in a 6-1 Red Wing victory.

1933 - Rochester Red Wings absorbed two losses against the Newark Bears, 8-5 and 7-2. The losses drop the Wings to a tie for second place with Baltimore.

2005 - The Rochester Red Wings offense continued to hit and Francisco Liriano continued to dominate as the Wings won the morning game of a day/night doubleheader 7-3 over the Ottawa Lynx Tuesday morning at Frontier Field. Liriano (7-1) continued his dominance of the International League throwing 7 shutout innings, giving up 4 hits, striking out only 4 and walking 3. Liriano's personal scoreless streak has run to 26 innings, and he has allowed only 1 earned run in his last 43 innings pitched...Luis Maza's three-run homer in the 11th inning gave the Red Wings a 7-4 win over the Ottawa Lynx, in the conclusion of Tuesday's day/night doubleheader at Frontier Field. The Wings took both games and moved to within a half-game of first place Buffalo in the International League North Division.
