Wingnuts Continue Winning Ways

Wichita, KS- The Wingnuts celebrated pitching coach Luke Robertson's 30th birthday with their 30th win of the season, a 4-2 decision over the Sioux City Explorers on Tuesday at Lawrence Dumont Stadium.

Sioux City did all their damage in the top of the first, getting an RBI single from Landon Camp and an RBI double from Justin Nelson. After that is was all Wingnuts, led by Derek Blacksher who went seven strong innings.

The Wingnuts quickly tied the game in the bottom of the first on an RBI groundout by Greg Porter, followed by a solo home run by Dustan Mohr, his seventh of the season. In the third, Josh Horn walked with two outs and stole second. Porter singled him home to extend his hitting streak to 19 games. Porter knocked in another run with a single in the fifth to finish 2-3, with a walk and three RBI.

Doug Hurn pitched a 1-2-3 eighth and Richard Salazar had an easy ninth to pick up his second save. The Wingnuts, who have already clinched the North Division first half title, are a perfect 8-0 against Sioux City this season and have now won a franchise-best nine games in a row.
