Sioux Falls 7, Pensacola 2

Noel Baca turned in a fine pitching performance and got plenty of help from his offense as Sioux Falls downed Pensacola 7-2. Baca went six solid innings allowing two earned runs on just three hits to earn the win and improve to 2-1 with the Canaries. RF JD Reininger paced the Sioux Falls attack as he went 3-for-4 on the night. The Canaries led 5-0 after the first inning and were in command of the game throughout. Randy Beam pitched seven innings for the Pelicans and allowed five earned runs, dropping to 3-5 with the loss.

Ft. Worth 10, Shreveport-Bossier 5

Ft. Worth jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead and put the game away with a four run top of the sixth as the Cats doubled up Shreveport-Bossier by a 10-5 final. Cats 1B John Allen had a huge game as he went 4-for-6 and drove in six runs. His double down the left field line in the sixth put the game out of reach. Ft. Worth SS Cameron Blair was a big contributor as well going 3-for-5 with three runs scored. Joel Kirsten started for the Cats and went 5 2/3 innings allowing four earned runs on 10 hits to get the win and move his record to 5-2 on the season.

St. Paul 8, Lincoln 7 (12 Innings)

@ St. Paul, MN. Time: 3:43 Attendance: 4,802

In the bottom of the 12th inning, St. Paul scored on a wild pitch to defeat Lincoln 8-7. After six relatively quiet innings that saw Lincoln hold a 3-2 advantage, the teams combined for nine runs in the final three regulation frames. Neither team could break the deadlock until Tim Brown's 2-2 pitch got past Lincoln C Shawn McGill. Saints LF Jake Butler ran home from third base and was safe as McGill's throw to the plate was wide. It was a tough end to a productive night for McGill who went 3-for-6 with a RBI at the plate. Two other Saltdogs had three-hit games and 1B Phil Hawke homered for the seventh time this season. The Saints countered with five batters who collected two hits apiece in the contest.

Wichita 4, Sioux City 2

Derek Blacksher turned in another good outing for Wichita as he went seven innings and struck out five to lead the Wingnuts to a 4-2 win over Sioux City. It was the Wingnuts ninth consecutive victory. Blacksher permitted two earned runs on seven hits and a walk to improve his record to 4-1 on the season. Tyler Meigs took the loss for the Explorers as he went 4 1/3 innings and surrendered all four Wingnuts runs. LF Greg Porter did the damage at the plate for Wichita as he went 2-for-3 with three RBI to extend his hitting streak to 19 games. RF Dustan Mohr hit his seventh homerun of the season for the Wingnuts.

Grand Prairie 6, El Paso 5

@ El Paso, TX. Time: 2:36 Attendance: 1,721

HR: GP- Aaron Garza (7)

Grand Prairie scored a single run in the top of the ninth inning to break a 5-5 tie and defeat El Paso by a 6-5 final. CF Drew Holder had a big game as he went 2-for-4 on the night and drove in three runs. LF Aaron Garza hit his seventh homer of the season as well. Grand Prairie starter Nat Harris did a nice job for 5 1/3 innings before giving way to the Airhogs bullpen. Cody Crowell tossed 1 1/3 hitless innings and got the win. Closer James Morrison worked the bottom of the ninth for his eighth save.
