
Wingnuts Add Lefty Torres

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Wingnuts signed left-hander Julio Torres on Tuesday afternoon.
Torres recently finished his career at Odessa College in Texas where he posted a 12-5 record. Starting in Odessa's final regular season game this past May, Torres allowed just one run while pitching a complete game and clinching a playoff berth for the Wranglers.
As a freshman in 2008, Torres went 7-3 with a 2.67 ERA in 64.0 IP. The 21-year old will be available for the Wingnuts' series opener against Sioux City on Tuesday night.
To make room for Torres, the Wingnuts released right-hander Amad Stephens.
The Wichita Wingnuts, 2009 North Division champions, open a three-game series against the Sioux City Explorers on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. The Wingnuts host Mardis Gras in June, and also feature Shiner Bock "Beer-for-a-Buck", courtesy of Standard Beverage.
