WINSTON-SALEM, NC (JUNE 13, 2011) - Today the Dash are pleased to announce that first baseman Andy Wilkins has been added to the Carolina League All-Star roster. Wilkins joins teammates Ian Gac, Jose Martinez, and Andre Rienzo as Winston-Salem's representatives in next Tuesday's game between the best of the Carolina and California Leagues.

This is the second time Wilkins has been honored as an All-Star, having garnered postseason honors in the Pioneer League last year. In his first full professional season, he is batting .248 with eight home runs, 26 runs batted in, 12 doubles, and 31 runs scored. He was named the Carolina League's "Player of the Week" for the week of May 23 - 31, a period that saw him homer in three consecutive games.

Wilkins was drafted by the White Sox in the fifth round last year out of the University of Arkansas. He entered this season ranked by Baseball America as the 19th-best White Sox minor league prospect. The publication named him the "Best Pure Hitter" and "Best Power Hitter" among White Sox 2010 draftees.

Wilkins replaces Salem first baseman Reynaldo Rodriguez on the Carolina League All-Star roster. Rodriguez was promoted to AA Portland this past weekend and will not play in the game.

Tonight the Dash open their final home series of the season's first half with the first of three games against the Frederick Keys. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. and tickets may be purchased by calling 336-714-2287, visiting www.wsdash.com, or at the box office at BB&T Ballpark.

The Winston-Salem Dash are the Class-A Advanced minor league affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. To purchase tickets and for more information, please call 336-714-2287 or visit www.wsdash.com .
