Washington Wild Things News Release
Kalamazoo, MI - The Washington Wild Things(25-16), presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, defeated the Kings(16-26) Wednesday at Homer Stryker Field in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
The win was keyed by a four-run second inning and a three-run fifth for the Wild Things. In the second inning, Washington loaded the bases with two outs and one run already in. John Cahill then reached base on an error by Kings right fielder Walt Simmons that allowed three runs to score.
In the top of the fifth, Zach Cates singled home Josh Loggins, who had doubled. Jay Coakley then hit a two-run home run.
The Kings, who scored 36 runs in three games against the Wild Things recently at Falconi Field, were held to only one run by Washington pitchers Nick Aiello and Clayton Ewen. Aiello picked up the win and improved his record to (4-1) on the season by pitching seven innings, giving up one run on five hits, striking out three and walking two. Ewen pitched two scoreless innings in relief.
